Production Schedules (Timelines)

Everybody involved in the production needs to be made aware when certain aspects will begin and when they will be completed. The production schedule keeps track of who is doing what, when and where over the course of the production.

A production schedule should be realistic. If collecting beauty shots of a town takes a day to shoot, it's certainly not necessary to schedule three days. But the weather may have other plans if you require shots on a sunny day. Starting times, crew calls and deadlines should be stipulated. Keep the production crew on track as much as possible according to the timeline. If for some reason work is not getting done on time, find out why and correct the problem.
Here's a hint to prevent your production from falling behind schedule, and even over-budget - plan contingencies in your timeline.
